From exploring Accra, to Kwame Nkrumah's Memorial Park, to seeing wildlife, to putting our feet in the same waters where our ancestors took their final baths.... shall I keep going? We took a tour of the slave dungeons, where our ancestors passed through the door of no return on their way to slave ships, destined for a long and excruciating journey across the Atlantic Ocean.
We participated in a Traditional Naming Ceremony, where we danced with the Chief, Elders, and villagers. We were even given beautiful crafted gifts from the women.

Quite honestly, one of our favorite parts of the visit was spending time getting to know about life in Ghana through our guide (Gideon) and being driven in the bus with our driver (Frances). We cannot say enough good things about them. Our outstanding guide (Gideon) was so incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the people and culture of Ghana. Gideon became family and it is hard to say farewell to him! He went ABOVE and beyond for us!

Many family & friends have been asking us about our experience. Our answer is that the visit to Ghana was one of the most meaningful cultural trips we’ve experienced. And we would recommend Land Tours (and specifically Gideon!) to anyone.
