Day Tours :

Accra City Tour - On this sightseeing tour, you will explore Accra, the Administrative and Economic capital of Ghana. It is a 130 year old city that has a blend of colonial and modern architecture. You will visit Accra’s most interesting monuments and museums as well as have an opportunity to drive through the old section of the city, its commercial district and neighborhoods. The tour will end at the Arts & Crafts market where you will have an opportunity to fine tune your bargaining skills on the local shop keepers.



Aburi Botanical Gardens and Akosombo Dam - Today you will depart for a drive to Aburi Botanical Gardens - this eco-paradise created in 1890 is home to a variety of tropical and sub-tropical plants and trees. The oldest tree on the grounds is older than 160 years old, which has survived through the British Colonial Era. You can opt to have lunch on the grounds of the garden, which has served as a beautiful picnic location to many a tourist. After lunch, your tour will take you to the wonderful Woodcarvers’ Village, a great place to pick up that special souvenir from your trip. After lunch you will visit the Akosombo dam which was built between 1962 and 1965 to generate Hydro Electric Power has created the largest artificial lake in the world.

 

Wli Waterfalls - Wli Waterfalls located 20 km from Hohoe, cascades from a height of 1600 feet, and is claimed to be the highest fall in West Africa. A walk through the forest of the Agumatsa wildlife sanctuary offers a chance to see a large colony of fruit bats, butterflies, birds, monkeys and baboons. Hike through lush greenery of the Agumatsa Forest Reserve where you will cross the same river eleven times to reach the breathtaking fall. Enjoy a picnic lunch (on your own) as you relax at the base of the falls.

 

Castle and Kakum - This day tour will take you on a drive through the historic Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum National Park, one of the West Africa’s surviving tropical rain forests. Choose between a 2 km nature walk through this forest to discover the wide variety of exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer or take a walk on the canopy walkway hanging 60 meters above the forest ground. Enjoy a lunch (on your own) of African cuisine at Hans Cottage Botel while watching the resident crocodiles and busy weaver birds. After lunch, visit the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1653 and was later taken over by the British. This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum. Be assured that whilst on this tour history will unfold the story of the slave trade which the impact is still felt beyond the shores of Africa today.

Weekend Tours (2 Days / 1 Night)

 

Castles and Kakum Weekend Tour - (Day 1) Early morning departure for a scenic drive to the Central Region where you will explore the historic Denkyira Kingdom particularly Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rain forests. Extending over 360sq km of diverse and dense vegetation, Kakum is the home to over 40 large mammals and 400 bird species as well as many species of butterflies, flora and fauna. The most popular attraction is the Canopy walkway which is made up of seven bridges extending 330m, hanging 40m above the forest floor an alternative activity to participate in is the 2km nature walk through the forest to discover the wide variety of exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer. After lunch, visit the Elmina Castle built by the Portuguese in 1482 and also known as St. George's Castle.  This castle was the first European structure built in Sub – Saharan Africa. Be mindful of the colorful harbor which nestles below the Elmina Castle, full of pirogues preparing to go to sea, this sight offers one of West Africa’s greatest photo opportunities. Enjoy a buffet dinner at the oceanfront restaurant, and relax for the day. (Day 2) - The following day enjoy a full American breakfast will be served at the oceanfront restaurant. Enjoy the morning at leisure soaking up the African sun; later in the day depart for a tour of Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1653; which was later taken over by the British. This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government in 1994.Continue the drive to Accra.

 

Ashanti Region (Kumasi) Weekend Tour - (Day 1) Enjoy a full American breakfast depart for Kumasi (Ashanti Region) for a City Tour; the highlight of the tour will be the visit to the Manhyia Palace Museum (Royal Seat of the Ashanti people) to get the sense of a day in the life of an Ashanti ruler (Asantehene), and to also obtain firsthand information on the legacies of the Ashanti kingdom - A regal history that dates back to 1700 is told with relics and artifacts. Enjoy a drive through the city with monuments dedicated to the memory of the great Ashanti people.  Your next stop is the National Cultural Center; this features the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and various studios of the brass makers, potters and batik makers. (Day 2) Today you will visit the 3 craft villages; Ahwiaa, which is known for its woodcarving and Bonwire which specializes in “Kente” weaving and Ntsoso which for its adinkra symbols. After spending the early part of your morning making all your necessary purchases return to Accra for your much needed rest and relaxation.
